It’s September 1st! That can only mean on thing: the new term begins at Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry. In honor of the beginning of a new school year, September’s fictional food is Butterbeer!
Harry drank deeply. It was the most delicious thing he’d ever tasted and seemed to heat every bit of him from the inside. - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I was doing a little research on what Butterbeer may taste like and I came across this recipe from the Food Network. Why mess with a good thing, right?
Butterbeer via Sandra Lee at the Food Network
Combine 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk, 1/4 cup butterscotch topping and 2 tablespoon room temperature whipped butter in a microwave save cup for one minute or until butter is fully incorporated in the mixture. Heat 1 1/2 cups vanilla cream soda in another microwave safe cup.
Divide both mixtures between two mugs and stir thoroughly!
Oakley and I enjoyed our Butterbeers while watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which happened to be on TV! How very serendipitous! It was rich and creamy and we served ours warm. It was a bit too sweet though. Next time I will cut the topping and condensed milk and try serving it over ice.
Happy start of term!

Make a frozen butterbeer!so good!
I’ll have remember that!
Sounds simple.. i may try it out if I can find butterscotch topping in my country. LOL.
I suppose you could substitute caramel for butterscotch. Add few drops of butterscotch extract. It was very simple and my kiddo really enjoyed it!
